ruth smallMy name is Ruth Kiwummulo and am doing a Master’s degree in Public Health Leadership (Save the Mothers) in my first module.

Am a trained medical Laboratory Technologist and I have worked since 2016 to date at Central Public Health Laboratories.

My Passion for women and children stemmed up way back in my childhood, growing up I had always wanted to be a pediatrician which I didn’t do unfortunately. That didn’t stop me, I later joined Rotary International which is a Non-governmental Organization with one of its areas of focus being maternal and child health.

I was lucky to serve as a president of Kampala west and we were in position to carry out many projects which included Immunization, construction of Maternity wards, screening of different diseases and this was possible through fundraising.

My mother who is an alumni of Save the Mothers Hon. Sylvia Ssinabulya really inspired me because she was an advocate for Safe Motherhood in parliament and Uganda, serving on various boards of grams geared towards sexual and reproductive health for instance Reproductive Health Uganda.

I hope to get more knowledge from this course to continue the work I have been doing and to also start up other projects and interventions to better maternal and child health on my community.
